Sustainable for

each other.

Shark Bay Wild stands for responsible, science-managed fishing that supports Western Australian families, protects marine ecosystems, and ensures prawns remain sustainable for future generations.

Our Story

A world heritage

fishery.

The Shark Bay Prawn Fishery is the largest prawn fishery in Western Australia, operating in the pristine waters of Shark Bay, approximately 800 kilometres north of Perth along WA’s mid-west coast. Established in 1962, the fishery has been managed under a detailed and scientifically informed framework for more than six decades. As a fishery located within a World Heritage Area, we operate under strict environmental controls designed to protect marine ecosystems and ensure healthy prawn stocks for future generations.

Our People

The people behind

the prawns.

Behind every catch in Shark Bay is a dedicated crew committed to protecting the waters they work in. Many of our fishers are multi-generational Western Australian families who understand that healthy oceans mean secure livelihoods.

Operating under strict management and science-based practices, they take pride in producing sustainable Australian prawns while supporting regional communities for generations to come.

Our Licensees

Responsibility on

every vessel.

Our licence holders are experienced operators who are granted the right to fish within the Shark Bay Prawn Fishery under one of Australia’s most carefully managed fisheries frameworks. Each licensee operates within strict quotas, seasonal closures and sustainability regulations designed to protect marine ecosystems and maintain healthy prawn stocks.

With a strong understanding of the waters they work in, our licence holders are committed to responsible fishing practices that balance environmental care with long-term economic sustainability. Together, they play a vital role in safeguarding Shark Bay’s World Heritage marine environment while supporting local families and regional communities.
